Following the tragic events of 14th June 2017, the government committed that the community should be at the heart of decisions on the long term future of the site. The views of the bereaved will carry the most weight in this process.
To provide written confirmation of this commitment, the government facilitated conversations with representatives of the bereaved families. These conversations resulted in the creation and publication of the Principles Governing Consultations on the Future of the Grenfell Tower Site on 1st March 2018.
Following publication of the Principles, the community signatories and local anchor groups serving the immediate
North Kensington community came together to agree how representatives of the community would be at the heart of the
future decision-making process. This led to publication of the Terms of Reference for a Memorial Commission
on 12th September 2018.
