Postponed to 8 October: drop-in at Hope Gardens Following the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, Elizabeth II, we have cancelled our Saturday 17 September drop-in. The next Memorial Commission drop-in will now go ahead on Saturday 8 October between 12pm and 3pm at Hope Gardens, 2 Maxilla Walk W10 6NQ. A commemorative story The latest addition to the books at North Kensington Library is a fairy tale written to honour the lives of a young couple who lost their lives in the Grenfell Tower tragedy. Actor and local resident, Tim Downie, has recorded a reading of the story. You can also read it in either Italian or English at the library. 'Remembering Grenfell: our journey so far' Our first report, published 16 May, outlines the ideas gathered so far for what a future memorial could look like. This is based on what we've heard from those bereaved by and who survived the tragedy, residents of the Lancaster West Estate that surrounds the Tower, and local North Kensington residents. Come to our drop-in on 16 July, and pick up a copy of our report Everyone is welcome to our monthly drop-ins. Come along to our next one on Saturday 16 July, and pick up a copy of our report, 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Bay 20 Community Centre, 71 St Marks Road W10 6JG . Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission film to mark the fifth anniversary of the tragedy The Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission has published its second film, five years after the Grenfell Tower fire tragically took 72 lives. The film features local school children speaking powerfully about how they remember their former friends and classmates. In the film, several of the Memorial Commission’s elected community representatives explain that their most important work is listening to the different voices in the community – to the bereaved families, to the survivors, and to those who live close to where the Tower stands. The film ends with a tribute to the 72 loved ones who lost their lives. Come to the 'Green for Grenfell' arts and crafts day on 11 June Everyone is welcome at the 'Green for Grenfell' arts and crafts day. Come along on Saturday 11 June, from 11am to 3pm at Avondale Park School, Sirdar Road W11 4EE (Gorham Place entrance). It's an opportunity to come together to make and create anything from ceramic hearts to collages, before the fifth anniversary. There will also be story telling and African drumming. Refreshments will be available and you can meet and speak to some of your community representatives and pick up a copy of the Memorial Commission's recent report.
