Following reaffirmed commitments to our community by the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, we are resuming our community meetings and conversations this month.

An update from the Memorial Commission following our meeting with the Secretary of State for Levelling up, Housing and Communities on 15 November.

Following our statement in response to the media coverage on the future of Grenfell Tower, we have written to the newly-appointed secretary of state at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to seek clarity about the Tower’s future.

Our community meetings are where you can talk to your representatives, find out what we have been doing and ask us questions. Add the dates of upcoming meetings and our informal Saturday drop-ins to your diary. We look forward to meeting you.

The Memorial Commission has released a statement in response to recent media coverage on the future of Grenfell Tower.

Meet some of your community representatives in person at our informal drop-in on Saturday 4 September, 12 to 4pm, at the Clement James Centre, 95 Sirdar Road W11 4EQ. Family and children's activities (as pictured above at our July drop-in) and refreshments will be available and everyone is welcome. We look forward to meeting you and hearing your ideas about a memorial.

In July 2021, four of the Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission community representatives, Sandra Ruiz, Hanan Wahabi, Susan Al-Safadi and Andrea Newton, visited Aberfan in south Wales as guests of The Aberfan Memorial Charity - the Memorial Garden is pictured above.  Find out more about the visit by clicking below. The Memorial Commission is keen to learn from the experiences of other memorials and in July, visited the Aberfan memorials in south Wales. Susan Al-Safadi reflects on the visit, which she says was 'invaluable'.
